The Successor of Infamous Mitsubishi Evolution Series has a high possibility of being a Crossover

After interviews with Australian media, Mitsubishi’s Chief Operating Officer revealed that the successor  of the Legendary  Lancer Evolution, would more than likely be a crossover as opposed to its regular format: a sedan.

According to Mitsubishi, the roll out of the Evo’s successor is part of its strategic long term plan. Mitsubishi has its eye on the ‘next best thing’ after they discontinued there Evolution Series in 2015. Their last model was the Lancer Evolution Final Edition; this model came equipped with a revised 2.0 litre Turbo Engine boasting 303 BHP and 305 lb ft of Torque mated to a exclusive 5 speed manual transmission. This model was rare indeed as only 1600 units of the Lancer Evolution Final Edition were available in the US.

Mitsubishi’s global boss also indicated their desire to return to motor-sport. This was mainly attributable to the Lancer Evolution series, Mitsubishi vaunts a very rich rally heritage and legacy  and have been very competitive with fellow Japanese auto maker Subaru in the past. Mitsubishi indicated that this return is currently being seriously considered due its rally heritage and legacy and also due to its vast technology advancements in this field.
